How to get the smell out of bathroom towels

After a few days of use, the bathroom towels get an unpleasant, wet odor, which is removed only during the washing process. Due to the contact with water residues, dead cells and mold, bath towels get a nasty look and a bad smell.

To eliminate the unpleasant smell of the towel, it is not necessary to buy scented products such as laundry softeners. Sometimes, they can worsen the smell and, due to their aggressive chemical content, they are environmentally harmful and can cause respiratory allergies. The most convenient and safe solution is natural cleaning products. Here are some of these:

White vinegar and baking soda

The cleaning solution made with white vinegar and baking soda is one of the best alternatives to eliminate the unpleasant smell of the bathroom towels. This mixture easily penetrates into fabrics and helps to remove dirt. In addition, its antifungal properties eliminate bacteria, mold and micro-organisms that can cause powerful infections and smells.

  • hot water
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • ½ cup of baking soda

Put the towels in the washing machine and cover them with the amount of hot water required. Then add the white vinegar cup and start the washing cycle. Put the towels inside the machine and fill them again with hot water. Finally, add baking soda and re-wash them.

Lemon juice

Due to its citric acid concentration, lemon juice is an excellent option for whitening and disinfecting all types of towels. In the same way, these properties and their acidic aroma help to eliminate the unpleasant odor.

  • ½ cup lemon juice
  • 4 cups of hot water

Pour the lemon juice into a bowl and soak the towels with hot water and the solution made with the above ingredients. Let them soak for 40 minutes. After this time, put them in the washing machine and wash them with the usual detergent.
