How To Use Rosemary To Stop Hair Loss

We all want our hair to be healthy and shiny, and its loss can badly affect us. Hair loss (alopecia) is more common among men and may be the result of many factors, but according to a study, rosemary can be used effectively to treat this cause. Therefore, it’s important to treat the main cause of hair loss and not just the symptom itself.

Rosemary butter to treat hair loss
One study tested 100 men with androgenetic alopecia. In the study, 50 of the men were treated with a synthetic drug used to stimulate hair growth. The other 50 men were treated with rosemary oil. Six months later, researchers found that both treatments led to hair growth.

This means that rosemary oil is as effective as synthetic medicine – but safer.

How to use rosemary for hair growth
Although it’s not clear how rosemary works for hair loss, applying it to the scalp increases blood circulation. So how can you use rosemary to stimulate hair growth? Here are some options:

1. Daily shampoo

To care for your hair, add essential rosemary oil in shampoo or in conditioner. Use 10-12 drops of oil for each of these two products.

Alternatively, you can use the plant itself. Place about 1 liter of distilled water in a large saucepan. Boil water and mix 1-2 large hands of dried rosemary leaves in boiling water (if you use fresh rosemary you have to double the amount of herbs because the dry plant is more concentrated). Turn off the cooker and let the rosemary sit in the water for at least 5 hours. Pour the rosemary infusion into a glass jar and keep in the refrigerator. Use this infusion to rinse your hair.

2. Daily massage

Use rosemary oil for a daily massage to stimulate hair growth. Add 3-4 drops of rosemary oil to a spoonful of jojoba oil or olive oil. You can also combine it with essential mint oil (which can also is effective for hair growth).

3. Treat yourself with hot oil once or twice a week

Once a week, use a hot oil hair and scalp treatment. Mix a few tablespoons of orange oil (or coconut oil) and a few drops of essential oil rosemary oil and a spoon of olive oil in a small glass pot which can be sealed. Place the jar in a recipient with hot water until the oil is heated. Apply the oil on your hair and scalp and gently massage it. Cover your hair with a wet hot towel and leave it to act 30-40 minutes.
